A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Edna Huang is an active freelance musician and is a member of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and Maryland Symphony. She currently can be seen performing with orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Washington Concert Opera, Annapolis Symphony, Cathedral Choral Society, Fairfax Symphony, Washington Choral Arts, Choralis, and National Philharmonic at Strathmore. She was Principal Clarinet of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony from 2006-2016, bass clarinetist of the former Baltimore Opera Company from 2006-2009 and Principal Clarinetist of the former Opera Vivente.
Prior to her return to the Baltimore/Washington area in 2001, Ms. Huang was Assistant Principal, Second, & Auxiliary Clarinet in the Monterrey Symphony (OSUANL), in Monterrey, Mexico. She was also Principal Clarinet of the Monterrey Chamber Orchestra, and Second Clarinet in the Opera Orchestra. During her time in Mexico, she performed with the Beethoven Wind Quintet and was the professor of clarinet at the University of Nuevo Leon.
Ms. Huang received a bachelor's degree with honors from Boston University in Clarinet Performance and Music Education and earned a Graduate Performance Diploma from The Boston Conservatory. She has studied with Julie Vaverka of the Boston Symphony, and Chris Wolfe of the Baltimore Symphony, and has performed in master classes for Larry Combs and John Bruce Yeh of the Chicago Symphony, Mitchell Lurie, and George Silfies of the St. Louis Symphony. She currently is on faculty at the Notre Dame of Maryland University and Goucher College, has a large private studio in her home in White Marsh (Baltimore County), and a private studio in Columbia (Howard County).
